Position:
Gardening, Landscaping & Maintenance Assistant (35 hrs/wk for 8 weeks)

Responsible To:
Empower Member Services Coordinator

Eligible Participants shall:

be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Duties / Responsibilities:

Assist members and volunteers who are involved with gardening activities;
Coordinate annual Spruce-up, a peer support event involving members and gardeners;
Perform maintenance tasks for the building (changing light bulbs, moving equipment, etc.) and garden (mowing, planting, weeding, etc);
Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of or experience with disability issues
Strong organization skills
Ability to work with and without supervision; Ability to work as part of a team; Respects the confidentiality of consumers.
Self-starter, enthusiastic
